600th Anniversary of Smardzewice Village
EKOROB participated in the events to celebrate the 600th Anniversary of Smardzewice Village
On 27 July 2012, an information and educational meeting open to all the residents and tourists to Sulejow Reservoir was held in Smardzewice, in the course of events to celebrate the 600th Anniversary of Smardzewice, under implementation of the LIFE+ EKOROB Project.
These events included a theatrical performance titled "Smardzewice Free for Ever" and a fete in Błonie Smardzewickie. The key organisers of that holiday included Mayor of Tomaszow Mazowiecki - Franciszek Szmigla, Head of Smardzewice Village - Józef Król, Board of the Voluntary Fire Fighting Service in Smardzewice, and Municipal Public Library. Marshal of Łódzkie Voivodship, Head of Tomaszowski District and Mayor of Tomaszow Mazowiecki Municipality held the honorary patronage of the overall project. An information campaign on reasons and effects of Sulejow Reservoir eutrophication was delivered, as well as the available work of the EKOROB project was presented. The fete participants could receive information materials on the EKOROB project, Water Framework Directive and Nitrate Directive.
Activities in the field of ecological education dedicated to diffuse and point pollution, reduction of nitrogen and phosphorus emissions in households, rural and recreational areas, and the role of ecotonic zones in reducing diffuse pollution, were prepared in cooperation with FERSO, the Foundation for Education and Civil Society Development. These activities were held in the form of a board game played in the open air and a mini water laboratory, A competition for the best “Water as a Source of Life” drawing was a complementary compenent held.
