Educational Activities Addressed to Pupils of Elementary Schools in Bukowiec on Pilica, Uszczyn and Blog Rzadowy
Further educational activities organised by LIFE+ EKOROB ‘Ecotones for Reducing Diffuse Pollution’ Project and addressed to pupils of elementary schools located in the direct catchment of the Sulejow Reservoir were held. They took place on 29 May, 4 and 18 June 2013 in Barkowice, within the Reservoir zone which holds LIFE+ EKOROB Project’s demonstration sites, i.e. ‘Barkowice Bay’ and ‘Barkowice Meadow’.
Pupils of years Four and Five of the following schools took part in the activities: Elementary School from Bukowiec on Pilica, Elementary School in Uszczyna, and W. Kucharski ‘Wicher’ Elementary School in Blog Rzadowy.
The activities were delivered under three thematic blocks:
- Ichtiofauna of the Sulejow Reservoir. Apart from theoretical introductions, children could touch, thoroughly observe and recognise the presented species of fish.
- Flow of water and pollution in nature as well as circulation of nitrogen and phosphorus elements in the environment. The activities were delivered using multimedia presentation.
- Monitoring of quality of ground and surface water condition. Under this part, pupils were collecting water samples from piezometers, recognised the key parameters (such as temperature, Ph value, electrical conductivity of water), and following the water filtering, identified nitrogen and phosphorus content in water.
The activities were completed with an integration bonfire for all the participants of these activities.
